Much to celebrate
We have been celebrating many successes this week.
It’s been a very busy exam week for Year 11 with French and Spanish orals, Photography, Art and Drama. They have worked hard and their teachers are very proud of what they have accomplished. The students even found the energy to make refreshments at Year 9 parents’ evening and run a bake sale to raise money for their prom. They have been given superb revision resources for the half term to keep them on the path of success.
Year 9 parents’ evening was a great success. Thank you to Mr Headley, Mr Mathys, Ms Jeffreys, Ms Mathys and the site team for such a well planned event. We were thrilled to see so many families in attendance: we really value talking about your child’s progress with you.
This morning I had a rewards breakfast with Ryan and Ada in Year 7, who were selected by Ms Ruby for their excellence this half term. Both students told me how much they love using the library, how grateful they are to learn in classrooms where ‘time is not wasted’, and they wanted to thank staff for ‘not allowing them to forget what they have been taught’. Year 7 participated in a library induction this week. They have an exciting new book to read over the holiday. Thank you to Ms Walsh for organising this: the buzz in the year group was wonderful to witness. On Friday our Brilliant Club Scholars attended their graduation with Mr Afriyie at Sussex University. Well done on completing the enrichment programme.
Congratulations to Yousafzai for winning the Sparx House Competition, maintaining their lead. We look forward to the many more House events next half term: they are a highlight of our Character programme.
Families entitled to free school meals will receive their vouchers on Monday 13th February. These will be sent by email. We return to school on Monday 20th February.
Have a lovely half term.
