BBC Bitesize on tour!

Orchard Park hosted the BBC Bitesize Tour on Wednesday.
Last Friday, the PE department held a fun Friday challenge. Although the event raised money for the Attenborough House charity, Hawking House won the dodgeball game. Alfie and Emeka (Year 9) were the winners of the dodgeball chocolate challenge and a special shout out goes to Kate, Matilda, Jaya and Evie (Year 8), who helped run the event and the lemonade stand.
On Wednesday, our school hosted the BBC Bitesize Careers Tour, an exciting event designed to inspire and inform Year 8 and 9 students about future career opportunities. The session was led by an experienced BBC presenter, Fee Mak. One of the event's highlights was a panel and an interactive Q&A session during which students asked questions and gained firsthand knowledge from professionals that could shape their future. Thank you to Mr Alabi for organising such a fantastic opportunity and well done to the students: your attention and manners throughout the talk were impeccable.
The Friends of Orchard Park have just launched a JustGiving page for those who feel able to make a direct voluntary contribution. Funds raised this year will go towards helping the school purchase canopies for the playground, benches and outdoor games to enhance the children's break and lunch times.

A fixture update from Mr Headley:
On Monday, our Year 7 football team hosted Archbishop Tenison School. The performance was something to savour as we came out 8-0 winners. We scored a brilliantly worked goal from Rafiou to settle any initial nerves. This was then followed up with a top corner strike from Leshae. It got even better with arguably the best assist of all time from Nicholas with his laser-precise passing that sliced open their defence to tee up Joel for his goal. Honourable mentions to Evan, Sol and Mason for their goal contributions and clean sheets from Joseph and Fynley. We play Oasis Shirley Park in their next fixture. A thank you to Mr Kalatch for his ongoing support and cheering from the sidelines.
FInally, a reminder that Year 10 parents’ evening is on Thursday 13th February at 4pm.
