Year 7 athletics champions
Year 7 participated in their first ever Croydon Schools Athletics competition on Monday, and it was a very successful day.
Our students won five medals, we had a few finalists, personal bests and lots of happy faces. Well done to:
- Tymon – first in javelin
- Cody – first in high jump
- Shalika – first in 100m
- Sienna – second in 200m
- Eva-Mae, Lilly, Sienna and Shalika – second in girls 4x100m relay.
Despite the very cold and damp weather, spirits were high and the students' behaviour was impeccable throughout the day.
On Wednesday, our Year 9 Excellence Pathway students visited St Mary’s University. Their visit included a campus tour, a talk about higher education options, two subject taster sessions and talks from current students about their experiences of university life. During the law taster session, students looked at the concepts of copyright infringement and explored how some modern artists may or may not have been guilty of it. The psychology taster session explored the various careers it could lead to. All our students left the campus visit inspired to go to university.
Year 9 and 10 girls had an assembly from the Krissy Cela Schools Initiative this week, which explained the importance of physical strength training for young girls and women. The team will be back on 11th July to deliver a workout and workshop to all girls in Year 9 and 10, which includes all participants receiving free active wear.
A reminder of our Year 10 into Year 11 parent information event on Wednesday 19th June at 5.00pm where we will explain our Year 11 provision to Year 10 students and their families. We look forward to seeing you.
