This week, Year 8 students participated in Maths by Stealth workshops, planning and designing a music concert using a questionnaire, interpreting data, budgeting and designing a stage set for the music concert. They used various Skillsbuilder methods, including teamwork, problem-solving and creativity. Students showcased their research in a presentation, pitching their concert plan, and honing their public speaking skills in an attempt to persuade their peers their plan was the best. This demonstrated their excellent behaviour, active participation, and enthusiasm while reinforcing our core values of excellence, collaboration, and drive. Importantly, they also gained a deeper understanding of the practical relevance of maths in everyday life. Thank you, Mr Alabi for organising this.

On Wednesday evening we held our first transition event for our new Year 7s. Students took part in art, music and drama workshops and blew us away with their creative energy and talent.

On Thursday 23rd May, our Changemakers in Years 7 to 9 hosted their first Grassroots Day, a culmination of our project with University College London and the Education Endowment Foundation aimed at improving peer relationships amongst young people. It was impressive to see so many students engaged with the Changemakers, giving suggestions for ways to improve our school and making pledges to commit to their positive Bank of Behaviours. That evening we hosted our Spring Music Showcase and were wowed by the talent: steel pans, bands, singers, pianists and even a performance from Mr Wright. A huge thank you to all those who performed or supported the event.

Today, Year 9 and 10 Excellence Pathway students had a visit from Mansfield College Access Officer. The students were told how they could access Oxford or Cambridge University, debunking the myths around access to one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

Over the May half-term we will have a number of revision sessions taking place for our Year 11 students. All Year 11 students have been provided with revision resources and a timetable. Please speak to your child about the materials they have and ensure they are well-prepared for further exams on 3rd June.
