Students develop their problem-solving skills in Enterprise Challenge

This week we held an Enterprise Challenge for Year 7 students, run by the Talent Foundry.

Enterprise Challenge

This week we held an Enterprise Challenge for Year 7 students, run by the Talent Foundry. Students planned and designed a music concert, created a questionnaire for market research and analysed the collected data. Additionally, they budgeted and designed a stage set for the concert while employing various Skillsbuilder competencies such as teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. They pitched their concert plan and honed their public speaking skills to persuade their peers why their plan was the best. They also gained a deeper understanding of the practical relevance of maths in everyday life. A huge thank you to Mr Alabi, our STEM coordinator, for organising and supporting this fantastic opportunity.

Black History Month

Thank you to all the pupils who entered our Black History Month competitions; we have been very impressed by the standard of entries and our students' commitment to their extra-curricular activities. A big congratulation goes to the Year 10 students who submitted a ten-minute dance entry full of cultural celebration showcasing their choreographic skills. Our winners were Martha, Deneria, Marques, Jayda, Baillo, Heaven, Cayenne, Charis, Deborah, Yochanan and Emyphil. Thank you, Ms Hussain for organising this competition.

Sports fixtures

Mr Headley reports on sports fixtures this week:

On Thursday we played host to Woodcote High School in a thrilling football game which ended in a 3-3 draw. With some last minute call ups and debuts the team pulled together. Credit to Ata and Jahmal for making their debut. A big thank you to Godwin and Micah for stepping up from the Year 8 team to fill in the spots. At half-time, the scores were tied at 0-0. The second half, having fought hard to go 2-1 up, we conceded two goals, one in the last five minutes. The boys did not give up and continued to push for an equaliser. With a moment of miscommunication from the Woodcote goalkeeper and defender, Ibrahim seized the opportunity to steal the ball and slot it into the goal in the last 30 seconds of the game to secure the equaliser. Well done to all involved. A perfect example of drive and excellence!

On Friday, Mr West took a group of Year 7, 8 and 9s to play in their first rugby tournament of the season. For such a new team, they played extremely well together. A stand-out sportsman from the tournament was Dylan, who played with all his heart. Trey also demonstrated excellent sporting abilities. We are looking forward to the upcoming fixtures, so we can develop our expertise even further.

Year 11 PPE exams

This week, Year 11 students had their first PPE exams in Art and Photography, and French and Spanish speaking. All students completed these exams with diligence and focus. We are very proud of them and wish them the very best for their written PPEs which take place next week.
